General Information

Beach Bands: We will provide wristbands in lieu of beach badges when needed during season. Everyone age 12 and up will receive a band. This will be your access to the beach as well as the dining hall.

Beaches to Use: You can enter the beach from nearby Mercer or Middlesex Avenues right across LBI Blvd. Please keep off the other private residential lanes and also the dunes: there may be substantial fines imposed by the town for “dune trespassing”. Parking on Middlesex and Mercer is very limited so it may be in your best interest to walk the two short blocks along oursidewalk on Cedars Ave. It’s stroller and bike friendly! In the event you do drive, note the posted parking restrictions at the street ends. 

Beverages: We are pleased to offer self-service coffee and tea in the Dining Hall from 6:30 a.m. through breakfast for your enjoyment. Soda and snack machines are located in the Victorian Hotel. Please help us keep our Chapel clean by not bringing in food or drink. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the grounds of HCBC.

Bicycles: There are bike racks conveniently located around the conference grounds for you. Please don’t store bikes on porches or in stair towers. We need to keep these areas clear to meet fire code.

Bookstore: We are continually updating the inventory in our bookstore and have store hours just for you! The bookstore is located in the Chapel building to the left of the lobby. Please refer to your schedule for hours of operation.

Business Office: Our office staff is here for you Monday through Saturday 9am to 5pm. Come by and visit us! For a nominal fee, certain services, like copy, fax, etc. can be provided during business hours at the front desk of the Victorian Hotel.  Someone will be available to assist you with most needs at the front desk from 7 am to 11 pm.

Candles: Sorry, no candles. (including birthday cake)  By order of the Fire Marshal, the burning of anything in any of our rooms or buildings or tampering with the smoke alarms is prohibited. Any violation will result in a $100 fine.

Canteen: Located near the Victorian Hotel Lobby. Get the best ice cream & coffee on the island as the best rates.

Chapel Services: On your schedule is a list of Chapel times for the week. We are thrilled about our long-standing Harvey Cedars tradition of guest attendance at our Chapel services. No sports or activities are available during our chapel services.

Check-Out: Check out times are 1pm (for Homeschool Weeks, July Family Week, Family Weeks #1, 2, 3) and 9am (Family Week #4). We thank you for honoring our housekeeping staff and being completely out of your rooms by your check out time. Remember to return your key(s) and pick up your deposit at the Front Desk in the Victorian Hotel starting at 7am.  Housekeeping asks that guests leave the sheets and pillowcases on the bed we are happy to serve you.

Children/Teens: We care about the safety of your children. Please keep an eye on them and don’t leave little ones unattended as our grounds are surrounded by water. During Chapel times, we kindly ask that children and teens attend the programs we provide for them or sit with their parents in Chapel. Teens should be in their rooms with their parents by 11pm.  Thank you for helping us keep our facilities in good condition. Please ensure that your children reserve running and ball playing for the gymnasium or the outdoors. Furniture and railings are to be used only for their intended purposes. See the Front Desk for more information about our wonderful Children and Teen programs.

Please be aware that the streets surrounding the conference grounds are public streets and your children should use caution when crossing or riding bicycles. New Jersey state law requires children 16 yrs. old and younger to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle. We recommend that all bike riders wear a helmet for safety.

Damage: Please report all damage and spills immediately to the Front Desk. So we can take proper measures for repair /cleaning.

Dock: Swimming and diving off the dock are strictly prohibited. Please supervise children under 10 at all times.

Dress Code & Swim attire: Casual dress is always acceptable; modesty is our guideline. In an effort to promote modesty, we ask that women wear one-piece bathing suits and that both men and women wear shirts and shorts/cover-ups inside the buildings.

Housekeeping:  During Homeschool and Family Weeks our housekeeping staff will freshen your room during the morning chapel service. If your room is occupied during that time, they will return the next day. If you would like your bed made, please remember to clear it of your personal belongings. There is a do not disturb tag for your door as well.

Ice Machines: For your convenience, we have ice machines located in the laundry room of the Poolside Lodge and on the 1st floor of the Bayview Lodge.

Ironing & Laundry: If you need an iron you can get one at the Front Desk Please refrain from ironing on the beds and carpet. Ironing boards are located in our laundry room. Coin operated washers and dryers are open from 7am to 11pm, in the Poolside Lodge and Bayview Lodge. Detergent can be purchased at the Front Desk.

Linens, Towels & Toiletries: Housekeeping provides all bed linens. However, we kindly ask that you bring your own towels (bath and beach), soap, shampoo, conditioner, tissues, and other personal toiletry items. If you forgot something, we do have some toiletries available for purchase in the bookstore/front desk. The Front Desk can also give you information regarding where to purchase any items that you may need. Please note that we do not provide hair dryers. Sleeping bags are not allowed in any of our rooms.

Meals: Please see your schedule for meal times. Meals are served family style or individually plated. To help us serve you quality meals, please be on time for the start of the meal. Upon request, we will gladly honor special diet restrictions with notice 10 days prior to your arrival. The kitchen staff is glad to prepare the fish/crabs that you catch while here, but this service is restricted to certain meals. Please check with your server for more details.

Parking:  Please park in designated areas as follows:
⦁    Main Hotel- Please use Chapel lot and main hotel parking.
⦁    Bayview Lodge- North end of campus at new Bayview Lodge entrance.
⦁    Poolside Lodge- Parking is on the street side of the lodge.
⦁    Captain’s Deck- Please use the Davis Center parking lot.
Please be aware of the Handicapped Parking, Fire Zone, Delivery Zone and employee parking areas.

Pets: Out of respect for other guests and allergy sufferers pets are not permitted at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference. Please contact us in advance in regards to service animals.

Photographer: During your stay with us, our staff photographer may be taking pictures of our guests and activities to use in our brochures, webpages and other media. Please notify the Front Desk at check-in or the photographer if you do not want your picture taken and used in this manner.

Pool & Hot Tub: Please see your schedule for the hours of operation. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult at the pool.

Quiet Time: Quiet hours for the conference grounds and buildings are from 10pm to 700am Please be considerate of our guests and neighbors. Guests are expected to be in their rooms by 11pm.

Recycling: Please note the recycling receptacles around the grounds for glass, plastic and aluminum cans only. Our staff works hard to keep the grounds neat. We appreciate your help in using our trash/recycling receptacles.

Rooms: In an effort to honor God in all we do, it is the policy of HCBC to not allow unmarried couples to share a room.

Security: Our buildings will be locked at 11:30p.m. each evening. When guests are here, a night watchman is on duty. For any special needs, just dial 0 from the phone at the Front Desk. For any medical, life-threatening emergency, dial “9” for an outside line and then “911”. For your safety, our buildings are now monitored by security cameras.

Smoking: Smoking is not permitted on HCBC grounds.

Speed Limit: Please observe the 20 mph speed limit on the surrounding residential streets.

Telephone: The Bayview Lodge has a telephone in each room; please dial “9” to get an outside line.

⦁    Barnegat Light Historical Society Museum and Edith Duff Gwinn Gardens: Exhibits in 1904 one-room school. 5th Street and Central Avenue, Barnegat Light.  Weekends in June and Sept.  Daily, 10:00-4:00, July and August. Free.
⦁    Viking Village: antique, clothing, and gift shops, ice cream, near working fishing fleet.  Free dock tours Fridays at 10:00 throughout the summer (registration required).  18th St. at the bay, Barnegat Light.
⦁    LBI Historical Museum: Exhibits in 1881 Victorian church. Engleside & Beach Aves., Beach Haven.   Beginning Memorial Day weekend, Sat and Sun, 12:00-4:00; from June 27, daily 10:00-4:00. Admission Donation: $3.00 per adult, children with adults free.
⦁    Fantasy Island: amusement park (opens June 17) and arcade (daily, opens at 12:00 pm), 320 Seventh St., Beach Haven.
⦁    Bay Village & Schooner’s Wharf: shops, art, souvenirs, food.  Beach Haven.
