From Harvey Cedars to Italy: A Life of Faithful Service

Becky Summers, a beloved alumnus, has attended Family Weeks each summer since she was a young child. Recently, Becky shared a letter with us about what God is doing in her life, and we’re excited to pass that along to you.

Becky has been faithfully serving in the Navy, and for the past 2 ½ years, she has been stationed in Italy—the past two years in Naples and the last six months in Rome as a Liaison Officer working alongside the Italian Navy. After over 20 years, this will likely be her final assignment before retirement.

While in Rome, God has richly blessed Becky with an international, English-speaking church family firmly grounded in the Bible, which can be difficult to find in Italy. She serves alongside individuals and families from around the world, including India, Africa, El Salvador, Holland, Germany, Finland, Canada, the United States, and, of course, Italy.

During her time in Italy, Becky has also taken up watercolor painting. She recently sent us a beautiful hand-painted card featuring a depiction of the dock on the bay at sunset—a meaningful reminder of the connection she continues to hold with “Harvey.”

Attending the conference has been a cherished summer tradition for Becky and her family for over 45 years. It remains a ministry dear to Becky and her parents’ hearts, regardless of whether they can be physically present each year.

The Summers family, along with many others like them, continue to be a blessing to HCBC through faithful prayers, thoughtful notes, and lasting friendships built here over the years.

Please join us in praying for Becky, her family’s health, and her safety as she continues serving our country and the Lord in Italy. We look forward to the day when she can join us again at HCBC, “where Christ finds people and changes lives.”
