“I’d Rather Be at Harvey Cedars!” - New Gear Available

“I’d Rather Be at Harvey Cedars!” — a phrase that’s been spoken by many guests and staff members who have come through the doors of Harvey Cedars Bible Conference and had memorable life-changing experiences learning about Jesus Christ, learning to become more like him, and getting trained for leadership in the home, church, and community.

“The Bible Conference by the Sea” — (see text below) former director Al Oldham recalled how much of Jesus’ ministry and miracles took place by the sea. Our mission is to be a place where this same Jesus “finds people and changes lives,” at this Bible Conference by the sea.

These throwback hoodies featuring our '50s cedar tree shirt design as well as both of these phrases may be recognizable by several generations of the Harvey Cedars family. They are now available in our bookstore.

Thanks to alumni Brittany Darpino (Darpino Design) for lovingly recreating this design!

Have you ever realized that when Jesus left his beloved mother, Mary, and the carpenter shop in Nazareth, He chose Capernaum, by the sea, as His residence and center for outreach ministry for most of the last three years before he went down to Jerusalem to die on the cross for the sins of the world?

By the sea, He chose most of His disciples.
By the sea, He commissioned them to be fishers of men.
By the sea, He taught the multitudes (sometimes from boats).
By the sea, He filled nets and amazed hard-headed commercial fishermen.
By the sea, He delivered the maniac of Gadara.
By the sea, He raised Jarius’ daughter from the dead.
By the sea, He healed the woman with the issue of blood.
On the sea, He stilled storms – and walked on water.

After He was crucified, dead, and buried – after He rose again from the dead on the third day – and before He ascended into heaven to sit on the right hand of God the Father Almighty – he once again met with His discouraged disciples by the Sea of Galilee.

By the sea, He once again amazed them by filling their empty net with fish.
By the sea, they cried, “It is the Lord.”
By the sea, He searched their hearts to test the depths of their love.
By the sea, He prepared them for the glory of Pentecost.
By the sea, He even told Peter of his coming Martyrdom.

Harvey Cedars, “the Bible Conference By The Sea,” is a place where this same Jesus, for [over] three-quarters of a century, has been “finding people and changing lives.”

We warmly invite all who long to know this Jesus (or to know Him better) to come and be our guests – and his guests – here by the sea.

— Al Oldham
