Always Faithful: Celebrating 85 Years

This summer, we will celebrate our 85th anniversary! God has used Harvey Cedars as a lighthouse for the gospel since August 1, 1941. Reflecting on many years of ministry—three directors and countless lives changed—we’re reminded in a profound way of God’s faithfulness. He is always faithful.

Deuteronomy tells us that our God keeps His covenant with those who love Him for a thousand generations. This is one of his great promises, and as we look back on our history, he has clearly kept His promise of faithfulness to Harvey Cedars.

We are humbled remembering his faithfulness in the past—from reclaiming the old Victorian Hotel long past its usable life, to Al Oldham defining and organizing the mission and direction, to his powerful work through retreats in the present.

Many weekends, we witness teenagers come to Christ or return to Him in repentance. During the summer, we often celebrate families restored and relationships made new.

God has promised faithfulness for a thousand generations, and we’re confident that he will remain faithful into the future. While we do not know when he will return in power and glory, we look forward to that day.

Until then, we trust that he will continue keeping his promises as he always has. Our part is to love him and keep his commandments. Mission and vision are essential to doing so.

We remain keenly focused on staying true to our mission to be a place “where Christ finds people and changes lives”, to which we have been called for 85 years.
