Meet HCBC’s Board of Trustees

It has been a while since we’ve shared information about the Board as a whole—especially regarding those members who have served for many years or even decades.

You may be asking yourself, “What does a Board of Trustees do?”

One of a board of trustees’ responsibilities is to protect the organization’s assets and funds. Members of a board must place the organization’s interests above their own when making decisions for that organization. Board members must avoid conflicts of interest or anything that could suggest self-dealing. Some of the decisions made by trustees concern the choice and oversight of the organization’s manager. While staff and management handle the day-to-day functions, the board of trustees focuses on broader decisions such as the organization’s overall mission and direction.

Along with those listed below, Rev. Al Oldham, director of the conference from 1951 to 1995, has served on the Board as an honorary member since 1995.

Jan Bushey is a retired school administrator and a consultant with Odyssey Ministry. She is Director Jon Oldham’s aunt-by-marriage and lives in New York. Jan has served on the Board for over ten years. She first visited HCBC in 1975!

Jon Christman is an attorney with Fox Rothschild and is currently attending seminary. Jon, his wife Allison, and their daughter live in Pennsylvania. Jon joined the Board in the fall of 2016.

Tony Hunt is Sr. Pastor of Lancaster Evangelical Free Church. He has been a trustee for eight years and serves as President of the Board. Before joining in 2014, Tony had already devoted 20 years working with HCBC’s youth weeks. Tony and his wife Kristen live in Pennsylvania.

Dwight Lubansky is a solution architect at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. He and his wife Marcia, live in New Jersey. Dwight has been a member for eight years and also provides a tremendous amount of assistance for the conference’s technology needs.

Jon Oldham has been Executive Director of HCBC since 1995 and serves as Secretary on the Board. He and his wife Julie live in Harvey Cedars. Jon has been a part of the conference since before he was born!

Not only has he served on the Board since before 2005, but he is a main force behind the success of our youth weeks—so much so that we call the last Jr. and Sr. High Weeks “Gil’s Weeks.” Gil and his wife Dawn live in Pennsylvania.

Jean Walters was introduced to the Board in 2022 and is the US Commercial Leader, Vaccines, for Johnson & Johnson. She and her husband Calvin live in Pennsylvania.
